Christmas Projects

churches-togetherWe are committed to supporting people who are experiencing financial hardship at this time of year. We are working alongside Purley & Kenley Churches Together to support the local community via Come Dine with Jesus and Toys for Joy.

Come Dine with Jesus

Aldi supermarket gift cards will be given to local families so that they can purchase the ingredients for a Christmas meal. The gift cards cannot be used for alcohol or the lottery and are intended for those who may not be able to afford a traditional Christmas meal.  Nominations will be made by Purley Food Hub’s ticket partners. Accompanying the gift card will be some booklets with a Christian message.

We need people to:

  • Sponsor a family for a Christmas meal with £75
  • Sponsor a single person for a Christmas meal with £40
  • Or give money towards the above costs whatever they can afford

Toys For Joy: Bring a Toy event: Sunday 20 November 9.30am & 11.15am

toys for joy 26 yearsThe ‘Toys for Joy’ scheme is being reinstated this year! You can either purchase a new toy for a child in the age range 0 – 16 or donate money for toys to be bought. Our morning services on  Sunday 20 November will include a ‘Bring a Toy’ event. You are very welcome to bring your toy to either of these services, or drop a toy off at the Church Office between Monday 21 - Friday 25 November, 10am - 3pm.

How to get involved

  • GIVE A TOY as described above
  • MAKE A FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION Click here to donate online and specify Christmas Projects in the reference box. If you prefer to send a cheque, please make this payable to Purley Food Hub and write Christmas Projects on the reverse. Send to: Joanna Walker, Treasurer, Purley Food Hub, c/o Purley Baptist Church, Banstead Road, CR8 3EA.
  • OFFER TO HELP Volunteers are needed to deliver the gift cards to clients early in December and also help with Toys for Joy on Saturday 3 December when parents will come to pick up toys for their children.
