A weekly drop-in for homeless and vulnerably-housed adults based at East Croydon United Reformed Church and open Thursday evenings
Due to Covid-19 and in order to protect the safety of guests and volunteers, The Link has changed the way it operates. Having closed for 6 months, it is now open (since beginning October) offering a takeaway service: Thursdays 6.45pm–7.30pm. Guests can no longer come onto the premises, but are greeted individually at the door and receive tea/coffee, sandwiches, crisps, cake and fruit, and tins and packets of food and toiletries to take away. Clothing and bedding are also provided when available.
We are always grateful to receive men’s small and medium sized warm coats, jeans and tracksuit trousers, pants and socks – all in small and medium sizes please, no large or extra large clothing, thanks. Men’s toiletries are also gratefully received. Monetary donations can be given via Purley Baptist Church.
Thanking God that we have been able to open again
For those who are homeless and vulnerably housed, that they would be able to get safe accommodation
For energy and creativity for those working with the homeless in Croydon, as they struggle with limited resources and have to make decisions about priorities
For opportunities to share the good news of Jesus in a way that is relevant and accessible to guests
The Link was established in 2010 as a weekly evening drop-in for rough sleepers and vulnerably housed people in Croydon and ordinarily can host up to 30-40 people each week. Many guests have lost everything; homes, possessions, family relationships. We count it a privilege to meet these folk each week and show them the love of Jesus. If you/someone you know are in need of this service, please come along to The Link - we are open all year round.
Please contact the Church Office with any enquiries. NB. Volunteer numbers are currently limited and we don't have any openings at present.
